Government shutdown continues

The Government shutdown reached its 4th day, and lawmakers again failed to reach agreements to end it. At this time the parties involved do not seem to be in any hurry to get the shutdown quickly resolved. At this time the 2 house parties are shifting the focus to a mid October deadline. Going past that deadline could lead to the first ever Government default.
Both Parties blame the other side for either not negotiating fairly or not being flexible enough to change their ideas and thinking. Originally the shutdown was mainly caused by opposition to the Obama healthcare plane “Obamacare” , but now Republicans have shifted the talks towards raising the debt limit, and cutting federal benefit programs. The Democrats argue that all these items; Obamacare, debt limit, and cutting programs, are all linked.
Most administrations agree that that the debt limit must be raised. Not raising it could cause the financial markets to be very unstable and the economy could be harmed very quickly. Unfortunately any debt limit bill would need to pass through the House and then the senate; this does not seem likely to happen very soon, because neither party can agree on anything.

At this time both parties argue that the other is not negotiating fairly. Republicans believe the Democrats are taking to hard of a stance, and will not be flexible. The Democrats believe the Republicans are being much too extreme in their ways to resolve this crisis. Neither side seemed very urgent to end the shutdown by this weekend. Luckily the sides did agree to keep funding a couple very important programs during the shutdown. Disaster relief, along with women, children, and nutrition programs, will continue to be founded during the shutdown.

    Hello, Bahareh.

I heard a little bit about government shutdown before, and as I read your posting it helped me understand better. However I did not know what influence it has to the other countries so I googled about it. I found out that the government shutdown caused negative effects on the stock market in other countries. The return on foreign funds has decreased due to the uncertainty in the global market.
    Thank you for sharing. :)

    Nice to see you Bahareh.

I heard a lot of complaints about Obamacare. They said it does not make sense if the homeless people should pay for their insurance every month but they do not know if they are still alive tomorrow. They also demonstrate strong aversion that they should pay almost one thousand dollar one person per month( my homestay familiy. I am not sure if it is a universal phenomena)
I think, for a certain sense, insurance is a useful way to make up for our loss but if the fact is that we pay a much more higher than the possible outcome of risk itself can be a little silly.

Thanks for pointing this out. Yes, Americans don't seem so satisfied with the idea of health insurance since they have to pay a lot of money and still not sure if it works or not. It's a tough situation!
