Pope speaks English publicly for the first time

By Bing Yuan

The Catholic churches own the largest number of people among all Christian churches around the world, about 1.13 billion, accounting for 17% of the total population in the world.

Recently, Pope Francis who is the leader of the world's Catholics addressed in an evangelization conference which was held in the Philippines. Since Philippines has many people are Catholic, like my homestay who come from the philippines they go to church every week to do prayer, and they can't speak and understand English well, but to my surprise Pope speak English at the end of his talking: "Please pray for me, I need it, I promise to pray for you." It shows Pope hope to bring modern thought into Catholics so that people who are Catholic know more about kindness, nice, friendly as well as modern development to keep peace better.

Sometimes I feel that religion is similar to business. The religion steps down from the altar trying to get across it beliefs while the business designs their target markets for profit. All religion and beliefs, in my opinion, are ways people get along with themselves, are relations between you and your innermost attitude toward the life.Officially, religion applied to an another language can be treated as an invitation to a larger amount of believers, but for individual, language should not be a hindrance on your way to your belief.

I am Catholic but I didn't know much about the pope Francis. I heard that he is also repected by Muslims. I think he is making good relationships with people in different religion, too.

  3. I think it's surprising that only Catholic has this number of people. Also, I heard the new pope was elected recently, and he cannot speak English. I think religion doesn't need shared language!
